Alpine Achievement Systems is a Colorado-based company that helps school district administrators, principals, and teachers more effectively use their student achievement data to improve teaching and learning. We currently work with over 120 school districts plus a number of independent charter schools in Colorado, New Mexico, California, Illinois and Arizona. Our tools are particularly known for their accuracy, flexibility, timeliness, and relevance. Our innovative systems have won top honors in the Division H publications competition at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) National Conference in the category of Alternative Reporting Methods (2003) and No Child Left Behind Materials (2006). This national recognition underscores Alpine's unique contribution in the fields of applied research and using data for instructional improvement.
One feature that makes Alpine's data systems unique is that we treat each type of data differently. Standards-based state accountability tests are not the same as ITBS data or NWEA data or tests of early literacy. In order to maximize the usefulness of information for accountability and instruction, each data type must be treated properly. Alpine graphics and reports are designed around the characteristics of the data, instead of simply providing a generic data analysis tool with generic output. Many of our reports also include guiding questions and support documentation to provide the reader with context for the results and assistance with interpretation.
General system features include:
A secure Internet-based interface that allows teachers and administrators to access the information they need when and where they need it while maintaining the privacy rights of students

Immediate availability of results

Graphic and tabular representations of data that are uniquely designed for the type of data being presented

Downloadable spreadsheets of student results so teachers can sort and organize students for instruction according to any number of demographics and/or subscore areas

Historic trends reports including cross-sectional, quasi-longitudinal, and longitudinal analysis for the district, schools, and user-defined groups of students

Ability to create customized student groups so teachers can organize for instruction based on patterns and trends identified in the data

Time-saving tools for district assessment coordinators and technology support staff (e.g., quick and easy imports of data files, scrub tools to help fix matching errors in raw data files)

Time-saving tools for principals and district administrators (e.g., tools to help you recognize achievement and growth trends)
